The Clubhouse
The High Street Clubhouse began in 2001 using the clubhouse model. The Clubhouse model has been in use since the 1940s for people with chronic mental illness. In 2002, The Clubhouse received one of the inaugural Commonwealth Neurotrauma Initiatives Trust Fund grants which allowed the Clubhouse to expand and grow.
The Clubhouse is currently located on the lower level at 1101 E. High Street in Charlottesville.
Clubhouse Goals
- Learn basic work skills and behaviors
- Refine social skills and improve confidence and self esteem
- Participate in volunteer activities
- Develop ability to take responsibility for daily clubhouse work
- Develop new relationships
